This piece ended up being more of a pain than I had originally expected. It also ended up being much shorter than I had expected. The ending was rather unsatisfactory for me, but I had been struggling horribly to figure out the best path forward for continuing in a different direction and I could not. I think a part of it is merely this contest beginning to mess with my head. I've been rather hesitant to use certain compositional techniques here on Newgrounds and even more so with this competition. I think that I got too down into needing to make the piece have a certain more 'popular' sound for me to be able to keep it moving forward. Anyways, hope you enjoy what I was able to throw together.

Wow! I love the engaging mood and killer melodies, especially the horns at :35. The texture is a little overwhelming at the beginning, though. I think you would’ve been well-advised to have a bit more of a proper intro in there. The suddenly thin texture at :55, as well as the rushed ending, really didn’t help sell this piece IMO. I think you need to flesh out the structure a lot more here. Instead of overwhelming the listener with a lot of different ideas jammed together in succession, I’d suggest introducing them at a slower pace to keep your listener grounded in a more cohesive structure. I know I’ve said these things before to you, but at this stage of the competition they’re really noticeable. I have a challenge for you: make a piece that you think sounds repetitive and slow-paced. Barring overcorrection, I think that’ll help get you where you need to be. I still enjoyed your piece very much, though. I like your style a lot: it’s engaging, dramatic, and well-orchestrated. Keep at it, CloakedSoup! ^^

This sounds like for... Being as an adventure movie background music...? Even though, it's very short, I should LOVE a part two or something

I thought that the song had a great build up, and I really did feel like I was going into an adventure going through this piece that was fantastical and grandiose, and filled with an unknown and exiting expanse. My only critique was that you didn't end on a meatier note, if you did I feel like it would've given it a feel of the true zoom out of the scope of your vision, kind of like a "VOILA, HERE IS MY CREATION". I liked the piece overall though, keep up the good work!

This is amazing, sounds really good to me, the composition and production is perfect; the main problem of this track is the structure, it started too wild (? [I don't know how to explain it pretty well] I mean, the song is lacking calm sections, I would've started the song more calmed and then starting to building up to the actual intro you made, also the transition in the 0:55 was a little bit abrupt, the ending didn't made justice to this piece, but i still enjoyed it! This song have a lot of potential, hope you finish it someday.
I also feel your pain, it's normal to get blocked sometimes, we've passed through that too! When you feel more creative and calm you can keep working on this piece and polish it, anyways, I don't think you want to xD
tbh all the songs we have submitted to a competition got polished after the deadline. Well, nothing much more to say so good luck ;)
